A man named Wang Xiyong from China had 91% of his body burnt from being electrocuted. Despite having more than 3 skin grafts, the skin left on his body apparently wasn’t enough to cover all the burnt skin—time was running out. Aside from that, the bigger problem was they were running out of funds.
Despite financial donations and limited compensations from the local electrical power department, medical bills were piling up.
The doctors were aware of the family’s financial situation, and so they offered a more safe and economical way of saving Wang: skin from their children’s scalps transplanted onto their father’s body. At first, Wang’s wife Li Changmei refused, saying it would be unfair to the children. But to her surprise, the children immediately agreed!
